Erina …. reaping big already!!
When Erina walked into our office, we thought she had passed by to say hello …. Erina was introduced to us by Hon Ruhunda Alex, as a lady he met while doing his community outreaches with the aim to educate people on the need to study IT Courses. Erina proudly showing off her snacks for sale. Erina said that she wanted to take an Artisan Course and in particular, she wanted to learn how to make snacks and bake cakes so that she too could sell her snacks, money from which, earn a living and support her family. We admitted her, she started the course and completed it mid this month of May 2024. At Bridge Institute of Information Technology, we skill several persons on various artisan courses. By Spy Uganda Fort Portal: MTN Uganda has pledged to equip Fort Portal City with advanced digital services, enhancing the city’s transformation into a smart city, a project being spearheaded by area MP Alex Ruhunda aka #Nikisoboka. Speaking at the inauguration of the project yesterday at the Bridge Institute of Information Technology in Fort Portal, MTN Uganda’s CEO, Sylvia Mulinge, said the company was committed to supporting the city authorities with the necessary technologies to realize their vision for a digitally empowered future, whose majority population are youth, and netizens. Uganda, Tanzania Integrate National ICT Backbone Infrastructure
President Museveni and his Tanzanian counterpart, Samia Suluhu Hassan, have commissioned the integration of the Ugandan and Tanzanian ICT backbone infrastructure in Isingiro District. Officials described the achievement as “monumental,” saying it brings both nations closer together in their pursuit of reliable and high-speed internet connectivity, which plays a pivotal role in driving socio-economic development and fostering innovation. NITA-U Urged to Lower Cost of Internet
The Committee on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) and National Guidance has tasked the National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U) to reduce the cost of internet. While interfacing with NITA-U officials led by the Minister of ICT, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi over the Ministerial Policy Statement for Financial Year 2023/2024 on Wednesday, 05 April 2023, the MPs said the high cost of internet offered by the authority is making it difficult to do business. The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Moses Magogo said internet is one of the biggest drivers of socio-economic transformation and its inaccessibility affects all sectors of the economy. “We are told that the cost of internet acquired from NITA-U is the cheapest on the market which is not true because there are some private players who are providing cheaper internet.
